Legion of Mary
To Jesus through Mary
Concilium of the Legion of Mary
-
The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 3 million members in almost every country in the world.
-
Membership is open to all Catholics who faithfully practice their religion and who are able to receive Holy Communion.
-
The purpose of the Legion of Mary is to bring its members closer to God by visiting people in their homes, encouraging non-practicing Catholics to return to the Church, seeking converts, and sharing Christ’s love to those in the hospital or nursing homes, or any work assigned by the spiritual director or the president. These works should equal at least two hours a week.
-
Active members attend a meeting once a week which include prayers and a Rosary, discussion, a spiritual reading, and work reports. Auxiliary membership in the Legion of Mary requires the daily recitation of the Rosary along with the prayers in the Tessera, namely: the invocation and prayer of the Holy Spirit, the Catena and the concluding prayers.
-
Come to our meeting at 6:00 on Thursday evening in the Convent, room C4. You make no commitment. There is a 3 month trial period during which the Holy Spirit will tell you if this work is what he wants you to do in union with Mary.
